About AI Humane Society

AI Humane Society is an open-source initiative that brings people together to research, prototype, document, and share technology—including AI—for disaster resilience.

What we do

  • Translate documented disaster-response gaps into bounded open-source build challenges.
  • Publish starter applications, research notes, source links, limitations, and reusable documentation.
  • Invite review from local experts, responders, technologists, affected communities, and safeguarding specialists without implying participation that has not been confirmed.
  • Keep public prototypes on public, synthetic, or properly licensed sample data.

An initiative, not a certification body

The project is organized in public through its website and GitHub repositories. It is not presented as a registered nonprofit, government agency, emergency service, or representative of the organizations whose standards and reports it cites.

How claims are handled

Situation pages are timestamped editorial snapshots. Technical parameters come from seismic authorities; changing human impacts use attributed official or major-wire reporting; economic models remain separate from observed damage. Open-source availability never means a prototype is field-ready.

Operational use requires accountable adoption

Any organization considering a tool must validate local data, language, authority, accessibility, security, safeguarding, legal basis, and operational workflow. The adopting organization—not this website—owns that decision and its consequences.
